The World Championship held in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, started on its eighth day with competitions in Greco-Roman wrestling in the 60, 67 and 87 kg categories.
"Report" informs that Murad Mammadov (63 kg) defeated Kyrgyz Bayaman Kerimov 8:5 at the start.
The Azerbaijani wrestler defeated Turkish Kerem Kamal (5:3) with a trick he used in the last seconds in the next match and qualified for the 1/4 finals. However, he lost to Iranian Mohammad Keshtkar in this stage – 0:8.
Hasrat Jafarov (67 kg) defeated Venezuelan Neyser Hidalgo and Australian Tsuchika Shimoyamada 9:0 and advanced to the 1/4 finals. Hasrat, who was stronger than Armenian Slavik Galstyan (4:3) in this stage, faced Kyrgyz Razzak Beishekeev in the semi-final and qualified for the World Championship final again with a 3:1 victory. Jafarov will face Iranian Olympic, world and Asian champion Saeed Esmaeili in the decisive match tomorrow.
Islam Abbasov (87 kg) eliminated Belarusian Stanislav Shafarenka (UWW) with full advantage (8:0), but lost to Kyrgyz Asan Janishov 3:4 in the 1/8 finals.
