Azerbaijani female wrestler Gunay Gurbanova (59 kg) went to the world championship to win a gold medal.
Idman.biz reports that the athlete herself said this in an interview with "Report" after winning a bronze medal at the U-20 World Championship held in Samokov, Bulgaria.
She stated that she prepared seriously for the competition: "I went to Bulgaria to become a world champion. Unfortunately, it didn't work out. Perhaps complacency in the semi-final did not allow me to win. There is also defeat in sports. Every defeat is a lesson."
Gunay Gurbanova said that she is still young and wants to achieve greater success in the future: "I am only 17 years old. In this regard, the bronze medal can also be considered a good result. Therefore, I am grateful. I will do my best to become a world champion in the upcoming competitions."
It should be noted that Gunay Gurbanova won against Canadian Ella Finding with a score of 4:1 in the match for third place and climbed to the podium.
