Azerbaijan's Greco-Roman and women's wrestlers have attracted attention with their successful results at the U-15 European Wrestling Championship held in Samokov, Bulgaria. The competition covers May 20-24, and Azerbaijan is represented in three types of wrestling.
Idman.Biz reports that Fikrat Bakhshaliyev, competing in the 85 kg weight category in Greco-Roman wrestling, defeated Croatian Stefan Čavrić with a score of 9:0 in the consolation match with a complete advantage. After this result, the Azerbaijani representative qualified for the bronze medal match.
Madina Karimova, competing in the 46 kg women's wrestling, also successfully passed the consolation stage. She defeated Russian Shanka Malchinova with a score of 5:2 and retained her chance for a bronze medal.
In the 33 kg weight category of women's wrestling, Ulviyya Musayeva advanced to the final. The Azerbaijani wrestler defeated Ukrainian Viktoriya Pervachuk by "pin" in the semi-final and qualified for the gold medal match.
Thus, the Azerbaijani national team will compete for one gold and two bronze medals in the decisive stage of the championship.
