Azerbaijani fencers have competed at the European Youth and Junior Championships held in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. Sport24.az reports that Abbas Huseynov, Zarifa Huseynova, and Vahab Fatullayev, representing our team, stopped competing one step away from a bronze medal.
Abbas Huseynov advanced to the 1/4 finals in the individual sabre competition for junior boys, finishing the tournament 6th among 80 participants.
Zarifa Huseynova finished the competition in the top eight in the individual sabre competition for young female sabreurs, taking 7th place among 72 participants in the overall standings.
Vahab Fatullayev finished 7th in the final standings in the individual competition, where 126 young epee fencers competed.
Our national team consisting of Abbas Huseynov, Timur Husnaddinov, Rasul Aliyev, and Nahid Mammadli took 11th place in the youth sabre competition.
Zarifa Huseynova, Alla Hasanova, Leyla Ahmadova, and Farah Abasova finished the young women's team sabre competition in 14th place.
