Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestler Abdurrahman Huseynli (45 kg) easily defeated his rivals at the European Championship held in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia.
The wrestler said this in an interview with "Report".
He said that he did not face any serious difficulties on the way to the championship:
"It was a very strong competition. But I defeated my rivals easily. In the first match, I defeated my Ukrainian opponent 9:0 and advanced to the 1/4 finals. Here, I defeated the Moldovan athlete 8:0 and advanced to the semi-finals, and I defeated the Russian wrestler with a score of 9:2. The final match with my Georgian opponent was very easy and I won with a score of 9:0 and raised our flag."
The wrestler said that his next goal is to achieve good results at the upcoming World Championship:
"I had successfully completed the training camp in the national team and I believed that I would become a champion. My next goal is to become the winner of the upcoming U-15 World Championship. We need to prepare and achieve better results."
It should be noted that Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestlers finished the U-17 European Championship with 2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals. Abdurrahman Huseynli (45 kg) and Rihad Ibrahimli (110 kg) became European champions. Ali Nazarov (60 kg) won a silver medal. Gurban Majnunov (48 kg) and Nijat Yeylagaliyev (80 kg) took third place.
