The opening ceremony of the tournament held today at the "Shua Sports Complex."
"Report" reports that after the national anthem was played, the dear memory of Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland was commemorated with a minute of silence.
Elmar Islam, Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Table Tennis Federation, Sports Ambassador Vafa Musayeva, and Chairman of the ASTF Veterans Council Firudin Huseynov, who greeted the participants, highly appreciated the importance of the competition and wished the athletes success.
It should be noted that amateur and veteran table tennis players mainly demonstrate their skills in the competition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the International Table Tennis Federation and the selection of Baku as the "World Sports Capital" in 2026.
Professional athletes will only compete in doubles matches (one professional and one amateur). The prize fund of the competition, which will be held on April 4-5 / April 11-12, is 3,000 manats.
