The Azerbaijani national teams, consisting of boys and girls, won silver medals in the team competitions among table tennis players held within the framework of the III CIS Games.
The head coach of the Azerbaijani women's table tennis team, Farhad Ismayilov, spoke to Idman.biz after the match.
– Farhad muallim, what was missing for our girls to win?
– I am very pleased with the girls. By reaching the final, they showed their best game and won against a very strong Belarusian team in the semi-finals. The Russian team, before the sanctions applied to them, was considered one of the strongest in Europe and one of the best in the world. Therefore, losing to such an opponent is not shameful. The girls did their best.
– In this case, can this be called "silver more valuable than gold"?
– Of course, this expression should be used. Because Russian table tennis players, even though they do not participate in international competitions, have preserved both their potential and strength. This tournament was an opportunity for them to show themselves, and they appreciated it beautifully. The competitions are not over yet, and I hope that our girls will make Azerbaijani fans even happier.
