The "Davis Cup" tennis tournament was held in Tirana, the capital of Albania.
Idman.biz reports that the competition was successful for the Azerbaijani national team.
In the competition, which is regularly joined by more than 100 countries, our team consisting of Tamerlan Azizov, Kenan Gasimov and Elvin Hashimov, under the leadership of head coach Yalchin Manaflı, rose from group 4 to 3.
Our team, which qualified for the play-offs by being superior to Andorra and San Marino, was stronger than the representatives of Liechtenstein this time. Tamerlan Azizov defeated his opponent Moritz Glauser with a score of 6:1 in both sets. Kenan Gasimov won the match against Serafin Zund. Despite losing the first set with a score of 0:6, our team member showed determination and won with scores of 6:3, 6:2 – 2:1. Thus, our tennis players were superior to their opponents in all the matches they participated in. Thus, the Azerbaijani national team rose to Group 3.
