Table tennis players have started competing in the Azerbaijan Cup.
Idman.Biz reports that athletes representing various cities and regions, along with Baku, are competing in the competition that started today.
Elmar Islam, Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Table Tennis Federation, and Konul Mikayilova, Secretary General of the organization, greeted the participants at the opening ceremony of the competition held at the "Shua" Sports Complex and wished them success.
Federation officials also spoke about the achievements at the VI Islamic Solidarity Games and congratulated the bronze medalists of the competition, Adil Ahmadzade, Marziyya Nurmatova, Zemfira Mikayilova and Aylin Asgarova.
Then the arena was given to the athletes. Table tennis players aged 14 and 18 participated in this tournament. In the 4-day competition, winners and prize-winners will be determined in team, individual, doubles, and mixed doubles categories. Outstanding athletes will be awarded diplomas and medals from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and gifts from the Azerbaijan Table Tennis Federation.
