For the 26th consecutive year, an American tennis player will not win the ATP Finals.
Idman.Biz reports that at this year's ATP Finals, American Taylor Fritz, the world's sixth-ranked player, failed to reach the semi-finals. Previously, another American, Ben Shelton, had lost his chance to reach the semi-finals.
The last time an American won the ATP Finals was in 1999. It was the legendary Pete Sampras, who defeated his compatriot Andre Agassi 6-1, 7-5, 6-4 in the final.
It should be noted that last year Fritz had a chance to end the Americans' losing streak. However, Taylor lost to Yannik Sinner 4-6, 4-6 in the final.
