Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz, ranked second in the world, has stated that he is in favor of holding tournaments over one week. He noted that this gives tennis players more time between competitions.
"I have always been in favor of one-week tournaments. I think they are better. For example, if Madrid was a one-week tournament, I would have the next week free, and that helps with playing as well. The same goes for Rome.
I am sure that weekly tournaments create better tennis and more action. This was clearly shown in Monte Carlo. There were several great matches on the first day. This makes the tournament more attractive for spectators, especially those who don't watch tennis very much," Alcaraz said at a press conference.
