The Autumn National Cross-Country Championship was held in Jalilabad, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Azerbaijan Athletics Federation.
Idman.Biz reports that more than 150 athletes from Ganja, Lankaran, Astara, Jalilabad, Khizi, Guba, Khachmaz, Ismayilli, Barda, Gadabay and Ordubad, as well as representatives of the capital, competed in the race.
Speakers at the opening ceremony noted the importance of the competition and wished the participants success.
Bakhtiyar Asgarli, an athlete from Barda, won the title of national champion again in the 10 km race among men.
Salim Guluzade won in the 6 km distance, and Ali Rzazade and Namig Babayev won in the 3 and 2 km distances, respectively. Among women, Khatira Hidayatzade, a representative of Ismayilli, became the champion of Azerbaijan, leaving all her rivals behind in the 6 km race. Leyla Abdulazizova took the highest step of the podium in 4 km, Azari Mammadli in 2 km, and Nila Heydarova in 1 km.
