A first has been achieved in the history of Azerbaijani mountaineering on International Mountain Day.
İdman.Biz reports that Azerbaijani climber Vafa Musayeva (Gahraman) officially presented certificates for climbing Everest (8,848 meters) and Lhotse (8,516 meters) peaks for the first time in the country.
She stated during the presentation that her main goal is to share this success with the Azerbaijani public. V. Musayeva achieved a first among Azerbaijani climbers, especially female athletes, by climbing both peaks consecutively within the same expedition this year. Climbing Everest and Lhotse in one expedition is an achievement reached by a small number of women worldwide.
Musayeva's mountaineering activity started from local peaks - Bazarduzu, Shahdag, Tufandag and other mountains.

It should be noted that the first female climber to set foot on Mount Everest was Junko Tabei from Japan in 1976.
