The "Red Bull" brand has launched an extraordinary project that will amaze its readers. The cover of the company's newly published glossy magazine acts as a fully functional "Tetris" game console. This innovative idea brings together paper publishing and digital entertainment.
İdman.Biz reports that the "GamePop GP-1" system, developed by miniature gadget creator Kevin Bates, is installed on the magazine's cover. Instead of using fragile screens, the engineer assembled a matrix of 180 light-emitting diodes (LEDs) on a flexible printed circuit board just 0.1 millimeters thick. The entire structure, including the batteries, is only 5 millimeters thick and feels like ordinary dense cardboard to the touch.
The device's control system is also made using special technology. Traditional physical buttons have been replaced by sensors. Seven contact areas are engraved directly into the copper layer of the board. Although there is no mechanical click sound, the micro-deformation of the paper on the sensitive elements creates the illusion of pressing a real button. It is worth noting that this project has attracted great interest in terms of the future of print media and the limitless possibilities of technology.
