"Our young cyclists lacked a bit of experience."
Idman.Biz reports that Sahib Alakbarov, First Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Baku-Khankendi Azerbaijan Cycling Race, stated this at a press conference.
He stated that our athletes did not have the strength to finish because they were in a hurry:
"Our children did not perform badly. I congratulate the winners. The competition was not easy. There were certain questions after a nine-year break. It is gratifying that we eliminated all the shortcomings."
Sahib Alakbarov emphasized that cyclists had a minor accident during the race and the road was cleared in a timely manner.
"Despite the hot weather, maximum comfortable conditions have been created for the race."
It should be noted that 24 teams representing 20 countries of the world will compete in the UCI 2.1 category race. The total prize fund of the five-stage race is more than 50,000 euros. The competition will end on May 14.
