The 6th World Conference on Doping in Sport by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is underway in Busan, Republic of Korea.
Idman.Biz reports with reference to AZERTAC that the event is attended by more than 2,000 delegates from 191 countries.
The conference will adopt the World Anti-Doping Code and International Standards for 2027. The new documents cover prohibited substances, therapeutic exemptions, doping control procedures, results processing, and data protection.
Azerbaijan is represented at the event by AMADA Executive Director Tahmina Taghi-zade. She stated that the new code and standards will make the system more flexible, transparent, and human-centered. The documents reflect innovations such as attention to human rights, protection of minors and vulnerable groups, responsibility of athlete support personnel, and involvement of independent experts.
AMADA has already begun preparing for the implementation of the new Code. The goal is to protect the rights of athletes and organize anti-doping efforts in Azerbaijan in accordance with international requirements.
The conference will continue until December 5. The new World Anti-Doping Code will come into effect on January 1, 2027, and will be applied until 2033.
