Kazakhstani Vladimir Bushanski has been appointed as the sports director of the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation.

At the next meeting of the Executive Committee, the president of the federation, Zaur Akhundov, opened the event with an introductory speech and familiarized the participants with the agenda of the meeting.
Then, he introduced the Kazakhstani Vladimir Bushanski, who was invited to the position of sports director of the federation, to the members of the Executive Committee. Zaur Akhundov emphasized that the specialist would be given the necessary support to carry out successful activities in the country.
The first vice-president of the Federation, Sahib Alakbarov, informed the participants about the work done and the numerous events held during the period since the last meeting of the Executive Committee.
He stated that cycling sections have been opened in 2 cities and 8 regions of the country in cooperation with the Ministry of Science and Education, as well as the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and that this process will continue in the future.
Sahib Alakbarov, emphasizing that the "Baku-Khankendi Azerbaijan Cycling Race" has been included in the calendar plan of the International Cycling Union (UCI) for 2026, said that this 2.1 category race will be held on May 10-14 next year and will consist of 5 stages. The members of the Executive Committee were acquainted with the planned routes of the race and were given detailed information about the work that needs to be done.
The president of the Federation, Zaur Akhundov, nominated Sahib Alakbarov for the position of head of the Organizing Committee of the race. The proposal was unanimously accepted.
Fikret Huseynov, the executive vice-president of AzVIF, brought information about the reconstruction and repair work carried out at the Republican Velodrome to the attention of the meeting participants.
At the meeting, the federation's new official website was also presented, and information was provided about its design, functionality, and structure.
