Spanish footballer Marco Asensio of Turkey's Fenerbahçe club issued a statement regarding his injury and health condition after undergoing surgery.
İdman.Biz reports that the 30-year-old midfielder shared this on his social media account.
Asensio confessed that he put his health at risk to help his team last season:
"I suffered an injury that hindered my ability to play in the second half of the previous season. Given the importance of our objective, I believed we could win the championship with my team. Although I knew it could pose certain risks to my future health, I did everything in my power to return to the pitch earlier than expected and support my team".
The Spanish footballer noted that his pain had intensified in recent weeks, leading to the decision to undergo surgery:
"The pain I experienced over the last three weeks prevented me from playing. As a result, we decided to take a break and seek medical intervention. It was a difficult and sometimes disheartening process. However, I have great enthusiasm to get back on the pitch. I am committed to working from this day forward to play with my teammates and see the fans again. Thank you for your support. We will meet again soon, stronger than ever".
It should be noted that Asensio, who was diagnosed with cartilage damage in his left knee, underwent arthroscopic surgery in Spain. Fenerbahçe announced that the player's treatment and rehabilitation process is expected to last approximately three months.
