"The uphill road in the last 50 kilometers made the race even more difficult."
Idman.Biz reports that these words were said by Josh Barnett, a member of the Spanish "Burgos" team, the winner of the fourth stage of the "Baku-Khankendi" Azerbaijan international cycling race, in a statement to journalists.
The New Zealand cyclist stated that he completed the 181.5-kilometer distance from Tartar to Khankendi with the best result and was satisfied with the race.
He emphasized that they prepared well as a team and noted that the last 50 kilometers of the stage were particularly difficult:
"Together with our teammates, we acted tactically, tried to push each other forward, and this plan was successful. All team members made a great contribution to the victory."
The cyclist also said that this victory is of particular importance to him:
"I have been cycling for only three years, and this is my first victory at the professional level. This race will remain a pleasant memory in my mind."
It should be noted that the winner of the fourth stage of the cycling tour on the Ganja - Goygol - Goranboy - Aghdara (Sugovushan and Talish villages) - Naftalan route was Marco Manenti, a 25-year-old cyclist from the Italian "Bardiani CSF 7 Saber" team. The winner of the third stage on Gabala-Ismayilli was Gleb Suritsa, a Russian member of the Kazakhstan "XDS Astana" team.
