"The 15 medals won by the Azerbaijani national wushu team at the European Championship are considered one of the best, even the best, results in the history of this sport in the country."
These words were stated by Elchin Eminov, the head coach of the youth national team of the wushu national team, in an interview with Idman.Biz.
According to him, this result shows that this field is developing in Azerbaijan:
"Our national team is represented by athletes from different regions of the country. We have athletes who won medals from regions such as Ganja and Goygol. I believe that wushu has come a long way in Azerbaijan in the last two years. We also performed successfully at the Islamic Solidarity Games. The 15 medals we won at the European Championship are the clearest indication of this."
He said that he was especially impressed by the performance of teenager Tunar Rustamzade in these competitions, as well as Khayal Ibrahimov and Zaur Guluzade, who competed among young people: "They are my students and faced strong Armenian rivals. All three won and represented Azerbaijan with dignity."
In addition to his coaching activities, Elchin Eminov continues to participate in competitions and won his seventh title at this European Championship.
"This championship was not easy for me. Because I had to prepare both the athletes for the competition and fight myself. But after the victories of my students, I also managed to perform successfully and become a champion," he concluded.
