"Battle of Champions" Tournament in Rapid and Blitz Chess to be Held in Baku
The "Battle of Champions" tournament will be held jointly by the Azerbaijan Chess Federation, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the National Carpet Museum.
"Report" informs that leading Azerbaijani and world chess players will compete in rapid and blitz matches in the competition, which will last from April 27 to 30.
In the "Battle of Champions", Azerbaijani champion Rauf Mammadov will compete with the 15th world champion Viswanathan Anand (India), and the winner of the women's national championship Gunay Mammadzada will compete with world and European champion Antoaneta Stefanova (Bulgaria). The winner of the "Battle of Champions" will be determined based on the sum of the rapid and blitz tournaments.
The chess tournament, which will be held at the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, will unite the ancient art form with the world's oldest game, turning it into a battleground for intellectuals.
It should be noted that Viswanathan Anand, Rauf Mammadov, Antoaneta Stefanova and Gunay Mammadzada will hold a session with young chess players who won the national championship on April 27.
