A terrible avalanche occurred at the "Vesses" pass in the "Val Veni" valley in the Italian resort of Courmayeur. As a result of the incident, three experienced French athletes involved in freeride (skiing in off-road areas) died.
İdman.Biz, citing "The Independent", reports that the victims of the natural disaster are 31-year-old Hugo Noville, 35-year-old Quentin Philippe, and 29-year-old Alexis Rassat, all from Chamonix. The last athlete remained under the snow for 40 minutes and was taken to a Turin hospital in serious condition, but doctors could not save his life.
Despite the extreme weather conditions, rescuers worked for hours to extract people trapped under the snow.
