The Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency (AMADA) collected 1100 doping tests from athletes in 2025. Sport24.az reports that the Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency (AMADA) has released this information.
The Test Distribution Plan covered 29 sports and 53 sub-sports. AMADA was entrusted with collecting samples at a total of 45 tournaments, including national and international competitions. 81.7 percent of the tests were taken in Baku and Sumgayit, and 18.3 percent were taken in the regions. Compared to the previous year, there was an increase in the collection of test samples in the regions.
During the current year, AMADA has identified and initiated proceedings for 19 new anti-doping rule violations. During the current year, 73 investigations were carried out and atypical results were found in the samples of 10 athletes. Appropriate investigations were carried out on these athletes, additional samples were collected and laboratory analyzes were ordered.
During the reporting period, 22 cases, both recorded this year and opened in previous years, were completed. 17 of these cases resulted in sanctions for athletes. Thus, 5 anti-doping rule violations were found in boxing, 2 in wrestling, kickboxing and arm wrestling, and 1 in other sports (football, basketball, karate, shooting, athletics and powerlifting).
Awareness raising is one of the main and strategic directions in AMADA's activities. Thus, in 2025, a total of 106 awareness-raising events were organized, covering 4292 people.
