The grand opening ceremony of the 3rd CIS Games was held in Ganja on September 28.
Lent.az reports that President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva watched the event.
First, the tricolor flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan was brought to the arena and raised to the sounds of our National Anthem.
Then there was a solemn parade of athletes from the countries participating in the 3rd CIS Games.
At the opening ceremony, the Azerbaijani flag was brought to the arena by our karate fighter Asiman Gurbanli and taekwondo fighter Zemfira Hasanzade.
Then Samir Sharifov, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 3rd CIS Games, and Nurlan Seytimov, Deputy Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States, spoke.
Then there was a swearing-in ceremony for athletes and their coaches.
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev declared the 3rd CIS Games open.
The event continued with an artistic part.
