I am happy to have won a silver medal in a tough competition.
According to a "Report" correspondent dispatched to Mingachevir, Azerbaijani rower Nurlan Pashayev stated this in a statement to journalists at the "President's Cup-2025" international regatta.
The academic rower, who won a silver medal at a distance of 1500 meters, said that the competition was held in a tense competitive environment:
"We trained twice a day. I competed in a single boat. I took second place at the end of the race. I am happy with the result. But I could have won a gold medal as well. The heavier weight of the opponent athlete brought him success. Weight is important when rowing a boat. I express my gratitude to the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Azerbaijan Canoe and Rowing Federation for the organization".
It should be noted that Azerbaijani athletes won 3 silver and 5 bronze medals in the first two days of the competition.
Along with Azerbaijani representatives, rowers from Estonia, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Serbia, South Africa, Spain, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ukraine and Uzbekistan participated in the "President's Cup-2025" tournament.
The tournament, in which more than 200 athletes from 20 countries participate, will conclude tomorrow.
