Azerbaijani athletes, who successfully performed at the VI Islamic Solidarity Games held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, have returned to their homeland.
Idman.Biz reports that a welcoming ceremony for the athletes was held at Heydar Aliyev International Airport. The ceremony was attended by the sports community, media representatives, fans, and relatives of the athletes.
Azerbaijan was represented in the competition with 174 athletes in 20 sports.
Our team took 10th place in the ranking with 59 medals. 9 of the medals are gold, 19 are silver, and 31 are bronze awards.
A total of 57 countries participated in the competition. Turkey ranked first with 72 gold, 44 silver, and 39 bronze medals. Uzbekistan took second place with 29 gold, 35 silver, and 32 bronze medals, while Iran was third with 29 gold, 19 silver, and 33 bronze medals.
