The international tournament among Turkic-speaking countries held in Aktau, Kazakhstan, provided great experience and motivation to the Azerbaijani Para-boccia team.
Sona Aghayeva, a member of the national team, shared her thoughts on the competition:
"The tournament went very well. Both in terms of organization and the attitude towards the players, it was excellent. You could feel that everyone loves this sport and the boccia family is growing. This was our team's second international competition, and we believed in each other. The results also showed this belief. I think this competition gave us not only medals, but also great experience and motivation. These successes are not only ours. I would like to express my special gratitude to our coaching staff. I am grateful for their patience, support, and the strength they give us, sometimes with just a glance saying "you can do it". Without them, these results would not have been achieved," she said in a statement to "Report".
She also spoke about future goals: "Now we have turned our gaze to the future. I am sure that we will have our say both individually and as a team. Our only goal is to represent our country worthily at the 2028 Paralympics. I wish success to myself and all my teammates. Each competition is a new step, and we are taking these steps with confidence."
It should be noted that Nariman Pirguliyev (BC1), Orkhan Karimov (BC2), Zaur Veysalov (BC4), Sona Aghayeva (BC2) and Gunel Rzazade (BC4) won gold medals at the competition held in Aktau. In addition, in the doubles competition, the Zaur Veysalov and Gunel Rzazade tandem won the gold medal in the BC4 category, and the Nariman Pirguliyev, Orkhan Karimov and Sona Aghayeva trio won the gold medal in the BC1 and BC2 mixed categories.
