Azerbaijani judoka Leyla Aliyeva (52 kg) started the "Grand Slam" tournament held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, with a victory.
Idman.Biz reports that the judoka won against Indian representative Tanishtha Tokas with an ippon in the 1/16 final stage.
With this result, Leyla Aliyeva advanced to the 1/8 finals. She will face Russian Liliya Nugayeva in the next stage.
It should be noted that the "Grand Slam" tournament will end on May 10.

Today, six Azerbaijani judokas are starting the fight in the "Grand Slam" tournament held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.
Idman.Biz reports that Rashad Yelkiyev, Turan Bayramov (both 66 kg), Shafag Hamidova, Konul Aliyeva (both 48 kg), Gultaj Mammadaliyeva and Leyla Aliyeva (both 52 kg) will compete on the tatami on the first day of the competition.
The qualifying stage will start at 10:00, and the final block will start at 16:00.
Azerbaijan is represented in the competition, which is included in the World Judo Tour, with 11 judokas (6 men, 5 women) in seven weight categories. 295 athletes from 36 countries are competing in the tournament.
