According to the decision of the International Judo Federation (IJF), the date of the World Judo Championship among adults, which will be held in Baku in 2026, has been changed. Sport24.az reports that the press service of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation has released information about this.
According to the new decision, the World Championship will be held between October 4-11, 2026. The purpose of changing the date of the tournament is to ensure that the prestigious competition does not coincide with other international sports events and to ensure that the television broadcast of the World Championship reaches a wider audience.
Individual fights will be held on October 4-10, and mixed team competitions will be held on the 11th.
Baku will host this prestigious competition for the second time. The first World Judo Championship in the capital was organized in 2018.
It should be noted that it was previously planned to organize the World Championship between July 9-16.
