Azerbaijani athletes have shown successful results at the Open Summer Cup in swimming held in Kutaisi, Georgia. Sport24.az reports that the Ministry of Youth and Sports has released information about this.
At the end of the competition, Suleyman Ismayilzade in the general category and Farhad Shirmammadli in the 2010 and younger age group were awarded special cups for showing the best results. The tournament was also memorable for setting two new national records.
Mehri Abdurrahmanli set a new Azerbaijani record in the 50-meter backstroke, and Suleyman Ismayilzade set a new Azerbaijani record in the 400-meter freestyle.
Also, Anastasia Gnusina won 7 gold and 4 silver medals, Farhad Shirmammadli won 3 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze, Suleyman Ismayilzade won 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze, and Mehri Abdurrahmanli won 2 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze medal.
Also, Safiya Samadova won 2 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze, Mehdi Mukhtarli won 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze, Yusif Sofiyev won 2 silver and 4 bronze, and Arif Tapdigov won 1 bronze medal.
