Azerbaijani judoka Kenan Nasibov (+100 kg) became the winner of the U-23 European Championship held in Chisinau, the capital of Moldova. Sport24.az reports that he won the gold medal by defeating Polish representative Jakub Sordil in the final.
Our other finalist, Omar Rajabli (81 kg), lost to Italian Manuel Parlati and had to settle for a silver medal.
Our representatives Vugar Talibov and Aslan Kotsoev (both 90 kg) faced each other in the match for third place. Kotsoev, who defeated his opponent, won the bronze medal.
It should be noted that Islam Rahimov (66 kg), one of the Azerbaijani judokas, became the European champion the previous day.
As a result, the Azerbaijani national team finished the tournament in first place in both the overall team standings and among men with a total of 4 medals, including 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze. Despite the fact that only our male judokas participated in the competition, our team managed to become the leader among 37 countries.
