The award ceremony for boys in the 48 kg, 59 kg, 63 kg weight categories, and for girls in the 44 kg and 49 kg weight categories, was held at the Youth National Championship held at the Sports and Health Club of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES ISC).
The winning athletes were awarded by the President of the Azerbaijan Taekwondo Federation (ATF) Kamaladdin Heydarov, Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) Chingiz Huseynzade, Secretary General of the NOC Azer Aliyev, and Vice-President of the ATF Hikmat Samadov.

The opening ceremony of the Taekwondo Youth National Championship and the Azerbaijan Championship among adults was held.
Idman.Biz reports that at the event held at the Sports and Health Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the National Anthem was played first, and the memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland was commemorated with a minute of silence.
The President of the Taekwondo Federation, Kamaladdin Heydarov, spoke about the work done in the field of sports in our country. He stated that President Ilham Aliyev has always paid attention and care to sports and athletes: "Therefore, our athletes successfully perform in prestigious international tournaments. Azerbaijan is worthy of hosting major sports competitions in the world. This is a joyful event for us. Winning 156 medals during the year, 53 of which are gold, confirms that taekwondo is constantly developing in our country and that interest in this sport is increasing year by year."
Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee Chingiz Huseynzade emphasized that taekwondo is developing in Azerbaijan. He noted that the President of Azerbaijan, President of the National Olympic Committee Ilham Aliyev met with a number of athletes today and awarded them.
Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov said that the national championship was successful. According to him, this year has been successful for Azerbaijani sports. The Minister reminded that President Ilham Aliyev provides high-level support and care to the country's sports.
A total of 436 taekwondo athletes from 72 clubs and sports societies representing the capital and regions are participating in the competition.
It should be noted that the national championship will end on December 27.
