After the devastating earthquake in the western part of the country, the Colombian Football Federation announced that the domestic championship has been suspended. Sport24.az reports that the league's press service has released information about it:
"After assessing the situation in the cities and regions of the country, a decision was made to suspend the championship this week. This decision, first and foremost, stems from our loyalty to Colombia and everyone who is facing difficulties today.
All 36 clubs affected by the events will direct their efforts to help with summaries and recovery work, offering their opportunities and resources to support the country in this emergency situation. Football can wait today, Colombia needs us".
Note that the 7.4-magnitude earthquake occurred near the city of San Jose del Palmar in the Choco department. According to Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella, the death toll has risen to 111 people.
