Azerbaijani judokas have won victories at the "Grand Slam" tournament held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.
Idman.Biz reports that Turan Bayramov (66 kg) defeated Italian Matteo Piras with an ippon in the 1/16 final stage.
Thanks to this victory, our representative advanced to the 1/8 finals. He will face Brazilian judoka Willian Lima in the next stage.
Another judoka, Rashad Yelkiyev (66 kg), advanced to the next stage by defeating Korean Hyonu An with three yuko points in the 1/16 finals.
R.Yelkiyev will face Uzbek representative Abdurakhim Nutfulloyev in the 1/8 finals.

With this result, Leyla Aliyeva advanced to the 1/8 finals. She will face Russian Liliya Nugayeva in the next stage.

Today, six Azerbaijani judokas are starting the fight at the "Grand Slam" tournament held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.
Idman.Biz reports that on the first day of the competition, Rashad Yelkiyev, Turan Bayramov (both 66 kg), Shafag Hamidova, Konul Aliyeva (both 48 kg), Gultaj Mammadaliyeva and Leyla Aliyeva (both 52 kg) will enter the tatami.
The qualifying stage will start at 10:00, and the final block will start at 16:00.
Azerbaijan is represented in the competition, which is included in the World Judo Tour, with 11 judokas (6 men, 5 women) in seven weight categories. 295 athletes from 36 countries are competing in the tournament.
