Rashad Rasul, Executive Vice President of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation (ACF), commented on the national team's performance at the World Championships held in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.
Idman.biz reports that the ACF official made a statement to Report about this.
He considered the team's performance satisfactory: "We finished the competition with 3 bronze medals. Also, one of our judokas took fifth place and one took seventh place. We consider these results satisfactory. The record for the number of medals among men was repeated. As in 2017, we won 3 medals this time as well.
However, the competition showed that there are still certain points that we need to work on. In particular, the fact that our athletes lost matches in the last seconds when they were ahead in the score showed us that we need to work more seriously on some points. Appropriate changes will be made in the training process in this direction."
It should be noted that 13 judokas (9 men, 4 women) represented Azerbaijan in the World Cup in 10 weight categories in the individual competition. Zelim Tckaev (81 kg), Eljan Hajiyev (90 kg) and Zelim Kotsoyev (100 kg) won bronze medals among the national team members.
In the team competition, our representatives lost to Germany in the 1/8 finals - 1:4.
