98-year-old German gymnast Johanna Quaas has entered the Guinness Book of Records as the world's oldest active gymnast.
While many people's athletic careers end by the age of thirty, Johanna Quaas, born in Germany (then the Weimar Republic) in 1925, continues to demonstrate her mastery of gymnastics equipment.
According to Lent.az, citing foreign media, her acquaintance with gymnastics began at the age of nine, and her first competition took place in 1934.
Initially, Quaas wanted to participate in the Olympics, but she did not set ambitious goals such as becoming a world star, engaging in gymnastics as a hobby. Over time, she devoted herself to coaching in Stuttgart.
However, after 1945, individual sports, including gymnastics, fell out of focus, and Johanna was temporarily forced to switch to handball. She was only able to return to her favorite gymnastics in 1947.
At the age of twenty-two, Johanna Quaas moved away from active performances, focusing on coaching.
After raising three children, Quaas made a memorable return to sports in 1982 at the age of 57. Despite her age, she remained energetic and committed to gymnastics.
Already in the year of her return, she won eleven medals at the German Championships for senior athletes.
Since 1990, she has been a regular participant in the largest national tournament organized by the German Gymnastics Association - "Deutsches Turnfest".
Johanna Quaas still holds the status of the planet's oldest active gymnast, officially confirmed by the Guinness Book of Records.
Her performance on the bars is impressive, and her skill level is comparable to athletes much younger than herself.
Quaas is a shining example that dedication and activity have no age limit.
When asked about the secret of her form, she emphasizes the importance of simple principles: a full eight hours of sleep, a balanced diet, sufficient water intake, daily morning gymnastics exercises, and most importantly, maintaining a positive outlook on life and staying away from negative thoughts.
Johanna Quaas's story proves that an active and cheerful life is possible at any age, inspiring people of all ages and professions to strive to maintain their physical and mental health.
