The Azerbaijan Futsal Federation (AFF) has clarified the reason why the "Yasamal Baku" team was not admitted to the Top League.
Idman.biz reports that Mahal Mammadov, the head of the press service of the organization, made a statement about this to "Report."
The federation official confirmed that the team, which took the last place last season, wanted to participate in the competition this time as well: "They also wanted to participate. However, the club had no financial support. This was a bit risky. That is, the team might not continue until the end of the season. We reviewed both this and their performance last season. Also, based on the relevant clause of the statute, we created conditions for the participation of the "Lankaran" team this time."
Mammadov said the following regarding the receipt of other applications: "The Federation is always open to the applications of teams and evaluates them immediately. A decision was made on the participation of the teams whose names we announced for the new season. "Lankaran" is new among them. A meeting was held with the management of this team, we got acquainted with their conditions and plans, and the "green light" was given for them to participate in the championship. I would also like to note that, as in previous years, the rent for the halls for holding the games and the salaries of the essential staff for organizing the games will be covered by the federation. In addition, no money will be taken for membership fees for participation, as well as for ordering legionnaires."
He also spoke about the debutant "Lankaran": "We got acquainted with their plans. They want to do good things. Certain preparations must be made and experience must be gained to hold games in the region. This is possible in the future, not for the near future. The Federation is always providing its support so that games are organized in the regions. However, we are in favor of doing this in a planned way, not blindly."
The organization official added that there will be no significant changes in the next season: "In the Top League, the games will again consist of 4 rounds - 20 rounds. The team with the most points will be declared the champion. In the First League, this time 10 teams instead of 12 will compete in one round - 9 rounds. Then the teams that will take the first 4 places will participate in the play-offs. The play-off games will also consist of one match. The winners will meet in the final, and the losers will determine the bronze medalist."
It should be noted that the season in the Top League will start on September 18. "Araz-Nakhchivan", "Neftchi IK", "Baku Fire", "Shusha MFK", U-19 and "Lankaran" will compete in the championship.
