"The main goals set by the Azerbaijan Minifootball Federation for 2025 have been successfully implemented."
Idman.Biz reports that these words were said by Orkhan Huseynov, Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Minifootball Federation, while evaluating the results of 2025.
In his statement to AZERTAC, he stated that one of the main priorities for the federation this year was to organize the World Championship at a high level in our country, and the other important goal was for the national team to become the champion in the tournament we hosted: "Thank God, we achieved both of our goals. We experienced a remarkable year in the history of Azerbaijani minifootball, both in terms of organization and sports results. The achievements have also been highly appreciated by the country's leadership and relevant institutions. At the event of the Ministry of Youth and Sports regarding the results of the year, the Azerbaijan Minifootball Federation was awarded as the second best organizer of international competitions held in the country. At the same time, our national team won in the nomination of the best national team of 2025. This is a great source of pride and responsibility for us."
Orkhan Huseynov noted that there were some difficulties during the season: "Unfortunately, due to sponsors, no representative of our country could participate in the "EuroCup" tournament held among European clubs this year. There was hope until the last moment, but it was not possible."
At the same time, the Secretary General emphasized that an important historical moment was experienced for Azerbaijani minifootball: "Our country was represented for the first time in the Champions League with three teams – "Aznur", "Zira" and "Birbasha". Unfortunately, none of the teams could become champions. Also, the "Azersun" minifootball team participated for the fourth time in the "European Business Cup" held in Antalya, Turkey, but made a weaker impression compared to previous years."
According to him, the federation management has already determined the main goals for 2026: "Winning the gold medal of our national team at the European Championship to be held in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, from May 27 to June 4, has been set as the main task. To achieve this goal, the national team will start training camps from April. The preparation process will be carried out in two stages, both domestically and abroad. It is also planned to hold several international friendly matches before the European Championship. However, the date of the preparation stage is not yet known."
O.Huseynov added that no official discussions were held regarding holding a prestigious international tournament in Azerbaijan next year: "The last World Championship in Baku proved that we are capable of organizing such competitions at a high level. However, there is no new tournament planned for the near future. It is not possible to hold the World Championship in Azerbaijan again, and the issue of hosting the European Championship does not depend only on Azerbaijan's desire."
The official of the organization noted that the current Azerbaijan minifootball championship will end at the end of March or the beginning of April next year, and the final match will be organized at a high level.
