"Games with strong opponents are important for preparing for official matches." Sport24.az reports that these words were said by Yevgeni Kuksevich, the head coach of the Azerbaijani national futsal team, in his statement to the federation's official website regarding the training camp in Baku and the friendly matches they will hold.
He said that such gatherings will benefit the futsal players:
"We are taking steps for the future. The team is currently in the development process. We are trying to implement our thoughts and what we want to do in the training process. We plan to have 5 training sessions in three days. We have already had four training sessions, and today we will have our last preparation in Baku. In parallel with the training in the hall, we also have theoretical studies and video analysis. In other words, during the gathering, we try to make the most of our time and take steps forward. Because we have a lot of work to do."
The Russian expert did not feel the need to talk extensively about the opponents:
"Both the Georgian and Kazakh national teams are strong opponents. The Georgians participated in the final stage of the European Championship two months ago. This team has been in serious development in recent years. The Kazakhstan national team is in the top four of the ranking table. This team has repeatedly participated in the final stage of both the European and World Championships, and has also won awards. This also indicates that our opponent is strong. We have watched their games, we know how they play. Such games are important for us to gain experience and prepare better for the official matches we will hold in the fall."
The coach emphasized that despite the difficulty of playing four games in a week, it will be beneficial:
"We are trying to make the most of the days that FIFA has allocated for friendly matches. The sequence of the games turned out like this. Even though it's difficult, it's better to play than not to play. I repeat, we must fight despite the difficulties in order to develop the team and check the extent to which the given tasks have been assimilated. In such meetings, what we will do on the field is more interesting than the result. Taking into account the large number and difficulty of the games, we have invited 17 futsal players to the camp."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team will face Georgia in Tbilisi on April 9 and 11, and Kazakhstan in Aktau on April 13 and 15.
