Elshad Guliyev: Student futsal players have a high chance of advancing from the group stage at the European Championship

Elshad Guliyev, the head coach of Azerbaijan's student futsal team, has assessed the preparations for the European Championship.

The specialist gave an interview to "Report" about this.

He said that the team consists of young players:

"Actually, we didn't have much time to prepare for the European Championship. We have completed the physical training period. From today, we continue training in the hall, we are doing tactical and technical training. Our team is not bad, they are young players. Almost all of them are futsal players. I can mention Kenan Manafov, Khazar Agalizade, Ulvi Aliyev, Eldar Zeynalov, Vladislav Reznov, Nurlan Mehdizade, Farid Abbasov, and Vusal Isayev, who came from mini-football".

The head coach hopes they will get out of the group:

"Last year we took fifth place at the Universiade. The Spanish national team, which we lost to in the penalty shootout, won the championship. This year we want to achieve a better result. Our main goal is to get out of the group without losing much strength. Previously, according to our rating, we were in the fourth pot. It is very difficult to move forward from here. Because you have to beat two stronger teams in the group. According to my calculations, we should be in the second pot this time. In this case, there will be only one team stronger than us in the group. Our physical condition is good, we have potential, and our team is large. 24 teams will participate in the European Championship. I believe we will achieve our goal".

It should be noted that the draw for the European Championship, which will be held in Croatia, will take place on July 16. The competition will start on the 17th.
