Elnur Gambarov, an Azerbaijani futsal expert currently living in Toronto, Canada, highly praised the transfer of national team striker Nariman Akhundzade to the American club Columbus Crew.
He stated this in an interview with "Report".
The coach emphasized that this transfer is important for both the football player and the country's sports:
"I consider Nariman's arrival in MLS a great success for all of us. World-class stars play here, and his presence in such an environment is very important for the recognition of Azerbaijani football. I do not understand the negative attitudes of some fans towards this transfer, considering it a low-level league. The budgets of the clubs here are quite high, and football players worth 4, 5, 6, or even 8 million dollars play here. Zlatan Ibrahimovic also played in MLS in the past. Currently, a player like Messi plays in the championship. Also, many famous football players came to MLS and then played again in the giant clubs of Europe."
E. Gambarov noted that he believes in the future prospects of the football player:
"Nariman is a young and talented player, he has a bright future. His actions and goal in the match with Braga are still in our memories. I hope he will come and show himself here as well. When the game with Toronto comes, I will personally go and support him with the Azerbaijani flag."
It should be noted that Nariman Akhundzade's contract with Columbus Crew is scheduled until the summer of 2029.
