The Azerbaijan national minifootball team has completed its preparations for the European Championship, which will be held in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Head coach of the team Elshad Guliyev, football player Ramiz Chovdarov and goalkeeper Vali Gafarov shared their thoughts on the upcoming tournament.
Idman.Biz reports that head coach Elshad Guliyev stated that he was satisfied with the preparation process:
"The training camp went well. The team is ready and everything is in order. We have prepared as we wanted. Tamkin Khalilzade and Elvin Alizade have certain injury problems. But I don't think their absence will be felt seriously. Our first goal is to get out of the group with a successful result. We are in the first place in the world ranking, so we expect our opponents to play against us with special motivation. There is no complacency".
Ramiz Chovdarov, a football player of the national team, emphasized that the main goal of the team is to make the fans happy:
"We are fully ready for the tournament. We are going to the European Championship as the world champion and we want to win a gold medal here and make our fans who support us happy. Being the world champion motivates the opponents even more. Everyone wants to defeat the title holder. This makes our job more difficult. But we are ready to do our best".
Team goalkeeper Vali Gafarov also stated that the opponents are preparing seriously:
"We started preparations as soon as the national championship ended, held friendly meetings and participated in various tournaments. We are going to the European Championship as the leader of the world ranking and everyone will prepare differently against us. But we have also undergone special preparation against our opponents. After the World Championship, our opponents have also strengthened. In particular, the Italian and French national teams have developed. Therefore, we expect danger from all opponents".
It should be noted that the European Minifootball Championship will be held from May 27 to June 4. The Azerbaijani national team will face the national teams of Italy, France and Austria in Group F.
