Former Formula 1 driver and current Sky Sports analyst Karun Chandhok believes that some Red Bull staff are concerned that their driver Max Verstappen may lose interest in Formula 1 in light of the upcoming rule changes.
Idman.Biz reports that this could affect Verstappen's future in the team.
"I think there is also a question of how much Max will enjoy the new generation of cars. I was talking to some Red Bull staff at Sao Paulo airport and they all said a little nervously: "Actually, we are worried that Max will not like Formula 1 in 2026". And it may be difficult because it is a completely different racing style," Chandhok said on The F1 Show podcast.
He said that the team hopes this does not happen, but if their concerns are confirmed, it will be to the benefit of Verstappen's teammate, Isack Hadjar.
In 2026, the team will receive a new power unit from Ford. All this is happening against the backdrop of radical changes in the technical regulations, and many on the grid see this as an opportunity for teams with the best engines. Verstappen has already warned that pre-season testing can be boring.
