Lewis Hamilton commented on the episode with his teammate, Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, in the final part of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Formula 1.
Idman.biz reports that he spoke about the misunderstanding between them in his statement to Motorsport.
"Apparently, I was faster and Charles let me through. But I realized this too late and focused on the car in front of me, even though the chance to overtake was only 0.001 percent. I even released the accelerator and hit the brakes on the straight, but we made a mistake of about four tenths of a second. It was just my mistake. That's why I apologize to Charles. This will not happen again," the pilot emphasized.
It should be reminded that Leclerc was informed via radio that the positions would be returned. However, it was not possible to implement the instruction because the team order was delivered to Hamilton late.
