2009 Formula 1 world champion Jenson Button has announced his retirement from racing.
Lent.az reports, citing foreign media, that according to the 45-year-old Button, the "Bahrain 8 Hours" race on November 8 will be the last race of his professional career.
"This will be my last race. I've always enjoyed Bahrain, I think it's a fun track, and I'm going to enjoy it as much as I can because it's the end of my professional racing career. I feel like I've missed out on a lot in my personal life over the last few years. That's why I'm not ready to spend another season professionally in this sport," Button said.
Button has participated in 306 Formula 1 races and won 15 of them. After ending his Formula 1 career in 2016, he continued to compete in endurance races (WEC), including the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In WEC, Button raced for Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA.
Jenson Button competed in Formula 1 races from 2000 to 2017. He raced for Williams, Benetton Renault, BAR Honda, and McLaren teams. In 2009, the Briton became world champion with the Brawn team.
Earlier, in July 2025, the driver stated that the tight racing schedule was difficult and that he wanted to spend more time with his family.
