The FIA is changing its entry fee system. This will increase team payments by $75 million over five years. Teams are demanding clarity on how these funds will be used.
According to Idman.Biz, renowned journalist Joe Saward reported this on his blog.
The main change concerns the distribution of donations. Previously, donations were calculated based on the number of points earned in the championship, which led to a significant difference between the leading and lagging teams. Now, payments will be redistributed: the strongest teams will receive less money, while midfield teams will receive more.
The FIA promises to use the additional funds to increase the organization's professionalism, but teams are expressing doubts and demanding detailed clarification. The paddock fears that the money could be used to subsidize other championships or for entertainment events for federation officials.
Observers have noted a sharp increase in the number of FIA "gold passes" in the paddock during race weekends, which indirectly confirms the teams' concerns about the misuse of funds.
Although the new financial policy has been met with dissatisfaction by the teams, openly expressing disagreement with FIA President Mohammed bin Sulayem is considered dangerous.
