The International Automobile Federation (FIA) has issued a statement regarding an incident involving marshals at the Formula 1 Mexican Grand Prix.
İdman.Biz reports that marshals ran across the track in front of Liam Lawson's ("Racing Bulls") moving car.
"Following a review of telemetry, we can confirm that driver Liam Lawson slowed sufficiently and reacted appropriately to the double yellow flags, braking earlier than in other laps and slowing significantly more through Turn 1 than usual. He was not at fault for the incident," RaceFans quoted the FIA's statement.
Earlier, the Mexican motorsport governing body stated that the dangerous situation was caused by the New Zealand driver himself. He continued to drive on his line despite double yellow flags where the marshals were crossing the track.
It is worth recalling that the New Zealander was behind the main drivers at that time, which led to his car being separated from the rest of the field. The "Racing Bulls" driver eventually retired from the race due to a start crash.
