David Sanchez, executive technical director of "Alpine", has explained the reasons for the French team's poor performance in the 2025 "Formula 1" season.
Idman.Biz reports that in the 2025 season, the team's drivers, Franco Colapinto and Jack Doohan, took 20th and 21st places, respectively, in the drivers' championship.
"Our strategy for 2025 was to invest as much as possible and as early as possible in the 2026 car to take a step forward in solving a lot of fundamental issues that take time to develop, and we needed to start early.
So the strategy was to complete only one aerodynamic package by the start of the season and stop there. That meant everything was completed by mid-to-late January.
It became quite clear in the first few races that the field was very close, closer than expected. There was convergence in aerodynamics, and a lot of customer teams were using suspension systems and other parts from technical partners, so the field was very close.
We had some issues with the power unit, particularly on difficult tracks, but we were able to compete early in the season. Then, as teams developed, probably more than we expected, we gradually fell back, and that was the position we found ourselves in for most of the season starting in the summer," The Race quoted Sanchez as saying.
