"We wanted to win." Sport24.az reports that these words were said by Zira's footballer Eren Aydın.
The Turkish player shared his thoughts on the final game of the Azerbaijan Cup, which they lost 1:2 to Sabah:
"We lost with a goal we conceded in the last minutes. I congratulate the opponent. They are really a very good team. Their tactics are also very good. They have good players in their squad. We fought as much as we could. But we lost. We have two matches left in the championship. We are focused on those matches and want to finish the Premier League in fourth place."
Aydın, who previously suffered from an injury, said that he feels good:
"I always try to be useful to the team in the matches I play. I played with painkillers today as well. But I didn't have much pain. Because I had this injury before. It was very mild. I wanted to play a little more. But this is the decision of our head coach. We must respect it. That's all we could do."
The 23-year-old striker, who moved to Zira in the winter, said that they will fight to take fourth place in the Misli Premier League:
"There are two games left. Nothing is over yet. The advantage is on Neftchi's side. We also want to do our best. I think we have a good team. But we need to play a little better. In my opinion, there is no need to talk about the referees. We will prepare very well for the next two matches. Neftchi needs to lose points for us to achieve our goal."
