"Yesterday, we won the championship by defeating "Shamkir." I am experiencing very good feelings. From the first day I signed a contract with "Khankendi," I said that it is a great honor to be a part of the history of this name." This was stated by the team's head coach Zaur Hajiyev in a statement to Sport24.az.
The specialist shared his impressions of his team becoming the champion in the Second League:
"I think this team should play not only in the First League, but also in the Premier League in the future. We went through a long and difficult marathon during the season. Especially our games with our main rival "Garadag Lokbatan" were difficult. The championship was not easy at all. The club management has made a great contribution to this success. Football is a sport that requires serious financial support. Without the care and support of the management, it would be difficult to achieve such a result. I also thank our football players. They showed great perseverance in some difficult away games. Overall, I congratulate the entire "Khankendi" family and our fans. My contract with the club is coming to an end. We will have discussions with the management in the coming days. I hope we can come to a common denominator. It is inevitable that there will be some changes in the team as we have been promoted to the First League. But since the plans are not fully finalized, I do not want to talk about it specifically yet."
It should be noted that "Khankendi" will compete in the First League in the new "football year." The second place team in the tournament table, "Garadag Lokbatan," will play a play-off with the 9th place team of the First League.
